what besides cancer can be found in a lung biopsy?

My dad has been admitted into the hospital he went in with chest pains he had a heart attack 4 years ago. They did some blood tests, a chest x ray and a cat scan. They found a spot on his lung and are doing a biopsy what else besides cancer could it be???
